چکیده

The characterisation of quartz grains’ chemical and mineralogical properties in sediments sedimentary rocks is widely used provenance studies. This paper analyses grains from the coarse sand fraction soils Quaternary fluvial terraces (Guadalquivir River, southern Spain). tentative soil ages are 0.3 ka (Haplic Fluvisol), 7 Calcisol), 70 (Cutanic Luvisol), 300 (Lixic Calcisol) 600 Luvisol). shed light on sedimentological history these terraces. Scanning electron microscope cathodoluminescence (SEM-CL) characteristics, micro inclusion inventory established by Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX) trace element contents determined with laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) permitted distinguishing six types studied: metamorphic (type 1), undeformed granitic 2), strongly altered 3), recrystallised (deformed) 4), sandstone-derived 5) hydrothermal 6). Metamorphic 1) come Sierra Morena (Iberian Massif) Nevada (Internal Betic Zone). Granitic (types 2 to 4) Los Pedroches batholith its associated plutons (Santa Elena Linares). type 5 comes numerous sandstone outcrops scattered central catchment area Guadalquivir River. Finally, 6) originate veins subvolcanic batholith. Variations were noted proportions different ages, attributed spatial temporal changes area. most remarkable change occurred between 500 240 ago when extended into Nevadás rocks, well reflected 1 content (lower P2, P4, P5 PM) their characteristics (quartz less healed fractures, Al content, bigger mica microinclusions, smaller Al/Ti ratio) post-500–240 soils. Our study shows that combined SEM-CL inclusions (SEM-EDX), an efficient approach for characterising

Perfluoroalkyl substances in the Ebro and Guadalquivir river basins (Spain).

Mediterranean rivers are characteristically irregular with changes in flow and located in high population density areas. This affects the concentration of pollutants in the aquatic environments. In this study, the occurrence and sources of 21 perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) were determined in water, sediment and biota of the Ebro and Guadalquivir river basins (Spain). In water samples, of 21 ...

Pesticide Concentrations in the Waters from a Section of the Guadalquivir River Basin, Spain

When surface water is used to supply urban settlements, exhaustive studies of the composition of the source are necessary to ensure its potability, and to assess the possible environmental effects associated with contamination by pesticides. The present study centers on the pesticide content of the waters from a section of the Guadalquivir River and its affluents in southern Spain. At many of t...

Policy, politics, and water management in the Guadalquivir River Basin, Spain

[1] Among countries with river basin organizations to manage their water resources, Spain’s experience is one of the longest. One of the first basin agencies established in Spain was for the Guadalquivir River in the south. A case study of that river basin and its management indicates how basin management is shaped by political economy factors such as the historical path of the agency’s evoluti...

Modeling the evolution of the Guadalquivir foreland basin (southern Spain)

[1] Previous quantitative studies dealing with the origin of foreland basins have focused primarily either on the rheological basis of the lithosphere mechanical response or on the relationship between orogenic loading and sediment geometry. To link the evolution of the Guadalquivir foreland basin (South Iberia) with the thermomechanical stratification of the Iberian lithosphere, we combine qua...
